Listed is a pre owned Remington 700 EtronX rifle chambered in 220 Swift. This rifle is an incredibly unique setup produced by Remington from 2000-2003. Originally, these rifles were produced in 22-250 Remington, 220 Swift, and 243 Winchester. The firing pin itself became an insulated electrode, the trigger operated an electronic switch instead of a mechanical sear, and a 9V battery feeding a capacitor provided the energy to ignite the new type of primer – basically a resistor that would generate heat to ignite a charge of smokeless powder. Standard brass cases, bullets, and powder could be used, as it was just the primer that had to be changed in the ammunition itself. Remington was ahead of their time, however, and the rifle never saw wide commercial success.
This rifle is an excellent example of these firearms and remains in fantastic condition. The black textured synthetic stock shows some very light storage wear. The stainless steel finish also remains in excellent condition with some minor handling and storage wear as well. The bore of the 26″ barrel is bright with good rifling through a bit of carbon fouling is visible. This rifle is equipped with a Leupold VX-II 3-9x40mm satin stainless finish scope. It is in good condition with some light clarity loss from aging.
This rifle is being sold with 579 loaded rounds of Remington EtronX ammo. It is loaded with 50gr Hornady V-Max Boat tail bullets and the necessary electric primers. All of the ammunition appears to be in good shape with no corrosion on a brief count check, just some light discoloration of the cases from age. 8 pieces of empty brass are also included.
This rifle comes with the original factory manual, the key to operate the rifle, all of the ammunition listed above, and the attached scope. It does not have the original box.
