Pre Owned Valmet 78/83S 7.62x51mm NATO

$10,500.00

Product Information:

Listed is a pre owned Valmet 78/83S chambered in 7.62x51mm NATO (.308 Winchester). This rifle is in very good condition overall and an excellent example of these very rare rifles.

The finish remains strong throughout, with some light handling marks from storage and handling over the years. It has the checkered and ventilated synthetic forearm was well as a synthetic skeleton Dragunov style stock with a raised cheek and buttpad. There is very, very little carbon buildup or fouling in the internals, leading us to believe it has been admired more than it has been fired. It is equipped with a post front sight and sliding notch rear sight, with a three-prong flash hider and bayonet lug. It also has a folding bipod installed on the heavy barrel, a spring loaded carry handle fixed to the right side of the receiver, and a scope rail on the left side.

Made in Finland based off of the world famous Kalashnikov family of firearms, Valmet had models made in several variations as an answer to the Soviet RPK, AK, and other similar rifles. Only a handful of these 78/83S models were imported into the United States in the 80’s before Valmet’s merger with Sako in 1989. While most are in the hands of collectors in the US, the Finnish Defense Forces still uses the Valmet RK62 and RK95 TP as their standard issue rifle.

It comes with two HK 308 magazines that have been modified to fit the Valmet, a 20 round and a 30 round. It also includes a hard case for shipment and transport.
