The M27 was Finland’s first major improvement to the original Russian Mosin-Nagant design and served as the primary rifle of the Finnish Army during the years leading up to and including the Winter War. Produced by the Finnish manufacturer Tikkakoski (Tikka), the M27 is widely regarded as one of the finest military Mosin variants ever built.
Known by collectors as the “Pystykorva” (“Spitz Dog”) due to its distinctive front sight protectors, the M27 features a heavier 27-inch barrel, improved sights, enhanced stock design, and the exceptional craftsmanship that Finnish military rifles are famous for. Most M27 rifles were produced by Tikka, making them a cornerstone of any serious Finnish Mosin collection.
